What's Scary is also Exciting

Big ideas are scary to think about.

Imagine tomorrow you woke up and were an international superstar. Everyone around the world knew your name. Would you be scared or excited? To be quite honest, I'm not sure how I would feel, probably a little more scared than excited. It's something a lot of people hope and wish for, but if it happened, I wonder how they would handle it and what it would do for them.

Some people sabotage their progress when they're so close to realizing a goal, not because they don't want to succeed, but because it scares them to think about what would happen if they actually did. Are they good enough to be that person yet? What are they going to do after? Can they live up to the hype they created? Is it everything that they wanted it to be, or is it nothing like they imagined? In the end, the fear of success scares them more than the fear of failure.

I recently left my 9 to 5 job as a bartender in a prominent area to work towards realizing and manifesting my dreams. And guess what... I'm scared shitless.

I'm afraid that I might've made the wrong choice. I'm scared that I won't be able to live up to the worlds, let alone my own, expectations. I'm afraid that I might lose my mind, my home, and all of my friends and family. I'm scared that no one is ever going to read my blogs, watch my youtube videos, or purchase my coaching. I'm scared because there is no way for me to know what's truly going to happen.

You have to have faith in the process before you can see results and to believe in something that you can't see with your naked eye is a little terrifying.

But what if I get everything I want from this process? That's an exciting thing to ponder. What if because I left my job and pursued my dreams I was able to help others do the same? What if I helped changed the lives of millions of people with my unique voice and story across my social media platforms. What if my coaching business takes off and I'm able to help my clients realize their dreams and live up to their highest potential. What if those successful clients go out into the world and uplift their community which in turn helps uplift the entire world.

Now that's some seriously exciting stuff!

The fear of the unknown can either be scary or exciting, and I guess it all depends on how you want to look at it. You can focus on what could go wrong, or you could focus on what could go right. You could be scared of what could happen if you fail or be afraid of what could happen if you succeed. Or you can be excited about failing because it's an opportunity to learn and get excited about your success because of what it could bring along with it.

It's up to the individual to decide which lens they would rather use to see the world through. Personally, I'm both scared and excited when thinking about the future and I wouldn't have it any other way. The fear of failure pushes me to work harder, and the idea that I could succeed and live the life I've been dreaming about excites me and keeps me passionate. There is no right or wrong choice. Neither one is good or bad.

All I know is that what's scary is also exciting and that's perfectly okay with me.
